How to Test Your Speakers
Press start and select Both, then Left and Right. Each channel should be equally loud. Listen for crackling, buzzing, rattles or sound that cuts out. Change the frequency chips to test lows, mids and highs. See the basics of frequency in Hertz.
What to Listen For
- One side quieter than the other
- Rattling at low frequencies
- Harsh or fuzzy tones at high volume
- Silence on one channel
These point to dust, damage, cable problems or a wrong balance setting.
What If a Channel Is Silent?
Check the balance slider in system sound settings, try different headphones or cable, and clean the grille. Visit our left and right speaker test or no sound fix for deeper steps.
Test Phone, PC and Bluetooth Speakers
Phone speakers are mono so left and right may sound the same. For laptops see laptop speaker test. For wireless speakers see Bluetooth speaker not working.
